The horse/human relationship is a profound one. As intuitive beings, horses have the ability to sense and reflect our feelings and emotions, even when we are unaware of them in the moment.
Horses are prey animals by nature and have a highly attuned ability to sense and respond to emotions as a means for survival. Consequently, they become mirrors for us in the therapeutic process as they reflect our inner most feelings, whether we recognize them or not. This can be a powerful tool in getting to the foundation of emotional distress.
Like humans, horses are social animals, with defined roles in their herds. They have distinct personalities, attitudes, and moods. There are many parallels to life outside of horses that can be drawn from interactions with horses such as interactions within a family, school, group of friends, work place, etc. Our interactions with the horses not only helps us learn about ourselves, but it helps us learn about those around you. This can be a powerful opportunity to practice newly learned skills with the feedback of our four legged friends and transfer those practiced skills into our own lives.
Horses are also honest and authentic, which makes them especially powerful messengers. Horses are also non-judgmental, which makes them great partners to practice our newly learned skills with before we transfer them back into our human environment. They create an emotionally safe environment by just being authentic, honest, and curious. This can be a powerful form of therapy for individuals who are uninterested in or intimidated by traditional therapy.
Come meet our beautiful equine partners to see the possibilities. Be sure to check our upcoming events for open houses and demonstrations. To set up an unscheduled demo to learn more about what we do, please give us a call at (734) 276-2765.
